Los Angeles Apparel · The 1801
Made in USA used to mean something you could feel.
The 1801 is Los Angeles Apparel's heavyweight tee: 6.5oz of US cotton, knit, dyed, cut and sewn in South Central LA. LA Apparel sells it new for $26. These came off the factory's overflow, and they cost a lot less.

The weight
Pick up a cheap tee and you can feel what's missing. It's thin, it twists after a wash, and the collar gives out first. The label might still say cotton. It doesn't say how much, or where the shirt came together.
The 1801 is 6.5oz of 100% US cotton, by Los Angeles Apparel's own listing. That's a heavyweight tee. It's got a high ribbed collar that sits close to the neck and a relaxed body that hangs instead of clinging. No logo, no graphic. With nothing to hide behind, the cotton has to carry the shirt.
Dyed after it’s sewn
Most tees are cut from fabric that was dyed first. The 1801 is sewn, then dyed. LA Apparel calls it garment dyeing: the finished shirt goes into the dye, so it comes out with a broken-in feel and barely shrinks after that. It's why the colours look washed rather than flat.
One building in South Central
LA Apparel knits the fabric, dyes it, cuts it and sews it in its own factory in South Central Los Angeles. More than 1,500 people work there. Its listings say sewers earn no less than $18.42 an hour, with healthcare for under $15 a week.
When the label says made in USA, it isn't selling you a feeling. It's telling you where the shirt came together.
Why it’s less here
A factory that size turns out more than its shop floor can take: samples, short runs in colours that didn't make the line, seconds with an off shade or a loose thread. We buy those from LA Apparel by the pallet. Each listing is one lot, so a colour usually comes in one size. Where there's a known flaw, the listing names it.

What people ask
Is it really Los Angeles Apparel?
Yes. Every piece here was made by Los Angeles Apparel in its factory in South Central LA. We buy it from them and sell it here. Retailer isn't part of LA Apparel.
Why is it less than LA Apparel's own price?
These are samples, seconds and short runs, bought in bulk. Most are slightly imperfect. Where a flaw is known, like a small hole, an off shade or a loose thread, the listing says so.
What size should I get?
Each listing is one lot, usually in one size, and the size is on the card. Measurements are on the product page.
How fast does it ship?
It ships from Los Angeles within 72 hours, tracked. To Australia it's tracked and insured, door to door.
Do I have to join Retailer+?
No. Every piece has a price on its own. Retailer+ is Retailer's membership: members pay 35% less on every order. It starts with a free trial, then it's monthly, and you can cancel in one click. The terms are on the product page before you buy.
It's the tee LA Apparel sells for $26, from the same building. Ours came off the factory's overflow, so it's priced like it. When a colour's gone, it's gone.
